CMake & CPM Integration Guide

CPM.cmake

CPM.cmake is the recommended dependency manager for modern C++ CMake builds.

Setup

1. Download CPM.cmake into your project's cmake/ folder (or include the standard CPM snippet).
2. Add the following to your CMakeLists.txt:

project(MyAzureApp LANGUAGES CXX)

set(CMAKE_CXX_STANDARD 23)
set(CMAKE_CXX_STANDARD_REQUIRED ON)

# Include CPM

If you prefer standard CMake without CPM.cmake, use FetchContent:

AzureCppUtils automatically resolves its lightweight header-only dependencies via CPM / CMake:

CPM Dependency Cache

AzureCppUtils configures CPM_SOURCE_CACHE by default to avoid re-downloading dependencies during clean builds:

• Windows: %LOCALAPPDATA%\CPM\.cpmcache or %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\CPM\.cpmcache
• Linux / macOS: $HOME/.cache/.cpmcache
• Fallback: ${CMAKE_BINARY_DIR}/.cpmcache

You can override CPM_SOURCE_CACHE by defining it before building or in CMake command arguments:

cmake -B build -DCPM_SOURCE_CACHE=/custom/cache/path

Target Alias

The CMake target defined by this library is AzureCppUtils::AzureCppUtils. Linking against this target automatically configures include directories, CPM dependencies, and system libraries (Crypt32 & BCrypt on Windows; OpenSSL::Crypto on Linux/macOS).
